Ultimate Blog Challenge

I'm a little late joining in on the Ultimate Blog Challenge, but it sounded like fun. I love contests and challenges. They help inspire me. Plus, I'm secretly a little competitive. I'm not sure if I have to catch up with seven posts for the past week or not. I'm starting today. If I find out later that I need extras, well I'll toss them in at some point.

Every day for the month of January, I'll post on my blog. It's that simple and that challenging. As far as I understand the guidelines, each post has to be at least 100 words long. That means I can't slap a picture or a video onto the blog and call it a day. That's boring anyway. I'm hoping this will help me engage with my own blog as much as it will help readers engage with me. I'll respond to all comments as soon as possible. I dislike commenting on people's blogs and not receiving a response back, don't you?

While researching (that's my code for randomly searching the interwebs), I came across a video from one of the women who started the challenge. She said try coming up with a theme for each week. That resonated with me. Sounds easier than writing 30 random blog posts.

Each week will have a theme! Ta-da!

Tuesdays are a no-Internet, no-work day for me. I'll post this now before I leave for most of the day, and I'll reply to comments a bit later tonight or tomorrow morning.

There are still five more days this week, and normally, I'll announce the theme for the week each Monday. For this week, I'll announce the theme tomorrow when I officially start. At least one week will be a week of flash fiction stories. I'm thrilled and a bit scared of that week. I have to write those seven stories! It'll probably be the last week so I have time to write them.

That's it for today. See you tomorrow!

    1. It's exactly those things! They have a group on Facebook if you're interested in checking it out. Somebody mentioned it there, and it stuck in my head for weeks before I looked for it.

  3. I'm also doing the 31 day challenge! Yeah! I have a organization theme going on in January. I have Mondays and Tuesdays tied up with a theme throughout the year. I think themes are easier to do sometimes :)

    1. I'm less overwhelmed when I think of it in terms of themes. Just 7 posts for each topic seems more manageable. Good luck to you this month!

  4. I did this back in July and had a great time doing it. It was a lot of work, but I learned so much from it. Good luck to you, Missy! :)

  6. Good luck with the challenge! I've done challenges before, and it's really a good way to get the creative juices flowing. Are there prompts for your posts, or are you free to come up with your own topics?

    1. No prompts so all the ideas are my own, good or bad! I'm leaning towards good of course. This is like a crash course in blogging. I like the energy of it.

  7. Congrats on doing the UBC! I did it in October and, although it stressed me out, I finished it and was glad that I did it. Having a theme each week is a good idea.

    1. I'm glad I found that video. Doing it by theme and chopping it into manageable bites makes it much less stressful. Congrats on finishing it in October. It's an accomplishment that I hope to have, too!
