Socks on Cars?

Today was automotive day. I wrote about amateur car repairs and winter tires. Two separate articles. It happened to be the theme of the day, I guess. As I was writing about winter tires versus all season tires, I was reading about tire chains. I live in New England. We spend November to March driving in crappy weather. I don't see many people using chains on their vehicles, though. Blizzard conditions. That's the only time I might see a set of chains on a car tire.
Anyway, my tidbit for today is snow socks! I didn't know about snow socks. You might have, but I didn't. This tidbit made me grin a little bit. I know. Everything makes me grin. I am highly amused by things. Don't judge me!

Snow socks are not this, which originally crossed my mind.

These are snow socks. They seem to be more prevalent in the UK although they originated in Scandinavia.

I like my original, uninformed idea of what snow socks are. Imagine the sock pattern on your tire. It made me smile, too!

That's the tidbit. I had limited time today for mental wanderings, so it wasn't out in left field like some of the others will be. I'm easing you into the mental chaos.

On a side note, I created a poll. Please, take a moment and check one of the choices. Help me decide week four's theme.

  1. I like the first version best. I'm sure the second is far more practical in the snow though. :)

  3. Oh, are these for driving in? As opposed to chains? Who are we kidding, I'm from Florida, what do I know?

    1. Yes, they are supposed to replace tire chains in the snow. They seem weird to me. I like the first pair of socks better!

  6. What a neat idea! Apparently here in Southwest Colorado, snow chains are used all the time but I haven't seen them since we haven't gotten a fraction of the snowfall we usually get!

    1. I thought that snow chains were falling out of...style. If there's such a thing as snow tire fashion!
