<b><i>First a little flash fiction.</i> </b></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
The sparkly ball slowly descended from
the top of the tower to the chants of thousands of people. 5... 4...
3... 2...
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
The moment stretched. Melinda felt the
very air around her inhale as if taking a breath before the last
number.
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
Her heart started to race frantically.
Wrong. This was all wrong. At five feet tall, she wasn't able to see
anything around her. She'd positioned herself close to the ball so
that she could look up and see it without having to stand on her toes
or grapple with people around her. The ball hovered in the air. She
wanted to reach out and nudge it into movement.
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
She'd always wanted to go to New York
for New Years. As a young girl, she'd been the one who had insisted
that her parents and siblings watch the ball drop on television.
While her parents dozed on the couch and her younger sister and
brother slept around her on the floor, Melinda had been the one to
count down the new year by herself. It didn't matter if they all
slept. She was caught up in the magic of the moment. A clean slate. A
brand-new year. A time when anything seemed possible.
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
Closest to her, the other party-goers
stared up with rapt attention. They didn't seem to be breathing.
Confetti hovered in mid-air. Their heads were upturned to stare at
the ball, so all Melinda could see was the sides of their faces. She
shoved at the man next to her. He didn't budge, and his face never
changed its delighted expression.
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
She noticed that buildings and lights,
which had been flashing around her, were now static. They no longer
flashed their frenetic backdrop in the square.
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
Melinda was completely boxed in.
Crammed so tight with others that she could barely twist around to
see those behind her. From her height, she could only see one or two
people. Nobody moved. Nobody blinked. They didn't seem to be
breathing either.
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
Panic started to claw at her chest. It
pulled at her breathing until she wondered if she might pass out. She
gave a yell.
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
"Hey! Hello! What's going on?"</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
Her words didn't seem to penetrate more
than a few feet past her. This wasn't a canyon where her words would
echo. It was Times Square crammed full of people to watch the ball
drop. Her words were absorbed by the parkas and bodies around her.
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
She struggled to move. Pushing and
shoving at the statues around her. She tried to squat down on the
ground. If she could crawl between their legs, she might be able to
get out of this crush. Unfortunately, they were packed in too
tightly. With a scream slowly rising in her throat, she waved her
arms. Slapping at the shoulders, arms and chests of those inanimate
objects that had only recently been cheering human beings, she slowly
let that scream rise in her. Now, they were bars keeping her in this
prison.
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
She opened her mouth and let that
scream tear loose.
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
Time passed. Or at least she thought it
did. Without movement and time to guide her, she could have been
standing there screaming for 10 seconds, or 30 minutes. Her scratchy,
raw throat told her she'd been screaming long enough to do some
damage.
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
Crazy thoughts filled her mind. Was
this the end of the world? A pause that only she could feel and see?
Or was she really as inanimate as the rest. Only mobile in her own
mind as were the others around her. Each finding their own private
hell as they found themselves crushed in the bodies while the ball
hovered mid-fall.
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
Time passed. Hours then days as she
slowly weakened. Unable to fall to the ground, she leaned into those
next to her. Let them bear her weight as she drifted thinking about
her final New Years. What had once been her favorite time of the
year, was now her last.
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<i><b>And then some talk. </b></i></div>
<br />
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
I'm gearing up to participate in JuNoWriMo where people write 50,000 words in a month. This time, it's June. Yet another writing device to help motivate me. It's hard to write all the words all the time. I need to keep myself entertained with charts, camaraderie and cookies. (Well, fat-free, sugar-free cookies. I'm dieting. Coffee used to be on that list too. I've taken a coffee hiatus.)</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
Unfortunately, I have no plot, no characters and...well, nothing. There's nothing. *sighs* This weekend I'll be brainstorming and outlining. Wish me luck!</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">

<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiriOkUfIyOgFF3449x7QGUHgv1ziGhz8x9etv-B7P-TC8kuRk8SF6mPoD9POzgnUPwzInpOGbIo8yRaRDKwv6HP2iry-lbaoeq4yULB64jf-bRIBjNlai_ipr5m79EcZIu3WpnVe5OIA/s1600/limit.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiriOkUfIyOgFF3449x7QGUHgv1ziGhz8x9etv-B7P-TC8kuRk8SF6mPoD9POzgnUPwzInpOGbIo8yRaRDKwv6HP2iry-lbaoeq4yULB64jf-bRIBjNlai_ipr5m79EcZIu3WpnVe5OIA/s1600/limit.png" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Have you ever found yourself listening to someone speak, or reading an article and nodding your head like a bobblehead doll on a dashboard? That was me during this Ted Talk from Phil Hansen.<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<br />
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="315" mozallowfullscreen="" scrolling="no" src="https://embed-ssl.ted.com/talks/phil_hansen_embrace_the_shake.html" webkitallowfullscreen="" width="560"></iframe><br />
<br />
The short version: he developed a hand tremor that killed his dream of becoming an artist. After three years, he couldn't bare to be away from art any longer and went to see a neurologist who jokingly said, "Why don't you embrace the shake?" And he did. He learned to embrace his tremor. He started creating art with the squiggles. Then he went a step further and started to limit his ideas in other ways. "What if I only created art with items that would disappear?" "What if I made art with hamburger grease?" (he really did) "What if I could only make art using paint on the side of my hand and karate chops?"<br />
<br />
While I'm not nearly as creative as this guy, I do like to see what can be created/written with limits. I love challenges, contests and such. Times where the challenge is to write on a serious deadline, or using only 100 words, or during a 60 second timer.<br />
<br />
I'm going to start thinking of more limits for myself.<br />
"What if I could only write a story using dialog?"<br />
"What if I only had a week to write a novella?"<br />
<br />
Every year, I participate in NaNoWriMo because writing a novel in a month is a huge rush for me. I love the sense of community found on Twitter and in the forums. I want to find more things like this. Lately, I'm fascinated by the 3 day novel concept, but don't want to spend the fee.<br />
<br />
If anyone knows of a writing challenge, I'd love to hear about it. Maybe I'll make up my own challenge here and others can join me!<br />
<br />
Let me know of ways that you limit yourself. Did the Ted Talk inspire you to find out how you'd cope with self-imposed limits?<br />
<br />
Chat with me below! I'm a bit of an attention whore and would love to hear from you!<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjfr05I-sYWXjMzVXTSAoECMz9q-z54euhArHpagj11FI7m7pNxO7lxHyYVMrKad5OTXPVqRRzL3OhlaywcHaRBKTD3FAKjhbRjZlVtxMdio2Szh37mPORDBjEUua0ZaU9R-Pli4vW-JA/s1600/pen+and+pad.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="150" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjfr05I-sYWXjMzVXTSAoECMz9q-z54euhArHpagj11FI7m7pNxO7lxHyYVMrKad5OTXPVqRRzL3OhlaywcHaRBKTD3FAKjhbRjZlVtxMdio2Szh37mPORDBjEUua0ZaU9R-Pli4vW-JA/s1600/pen+and+pad.jpg" width="200" /></a></div>
Without new challenges and projects, I might curl into a fetal position under my desk. It's hot under there and filled with dust bunnies (cleaning under there is not on my list) so this list will ultimately save my life! </div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
Here's a list of the 50 things I'd like
to do soon. I might have to learn how first, but that's the fun part. I
love trying new things. When I complete them, I might share the
process here or not. Depends on how interesting I think it'll be. I
will always try to be entertaining at least!<br />
<a name='more'></a>
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
Instead of my to-do list, this is my
to-try list. It's not a bucket list with far out things like taking a
trip around the world. These are things that are completely doable
without too much trouble.
</div>

I'm back with some squirrel crack!<br />
<br />
I've decided to make this a central location for all my creativity, both the good and the bad, the successes and the failures. I'm spreading myself way too thin on a few different blogs. Instead, I'm going to keep the websites flowing but have this as the one central blog where I talk about creativity in all its forms.<br />
<br />
I've been creating art journals, learning to sew, creating writing journals, making jewelry, doodling, and writing. I hope this isn't boring and meh for others to see what I'm creating, and this isn't about bragging or showing off. I want to inspire others to create and follow their whims.<br />
<br />
There are new pages at the top of the blog with links. If you have things to share, I'd love to see them. Leave a link or a comment below!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18423605868882569538noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7998113328330499919.post-81954836766923686772014-10-25T17:05:00.002-04:002014-10-25T17:05:22.566-04:00It's Over. And the Winner Is...This is a spoiler alert. Inside this blog post, I will be announcing the winner of Project Runway. If you haven't seen it. Run away!<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<br />
I'm sorry to those who wanted full recaps every week from me. Unfortunately, I wasn't particularly inspired to continue with these contestants. I might not have bothered watching until the end if I hadn't promised myself that I'd at least try. As scattered as my interests are sometimes, I do try to finish what I start! I can't help it if I get bored easily.<br />
<br />
Anyway, the winner was Sean. It could have been Amanda or Kini and that would have been fine with me. They were so interchangeable. A piece here or there from each caught my eye. This orange dress from Sean, who had a fringe explosion in his workshop, was nicely done. When it came out, I went, "Okay. That's nice." Nothing blew me away, so congrats to Sean, you fringed maniac.<br />

<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: x-small;">I was afraid for the little guy when I saw that window right next to him!</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: x-small;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: x-small;"><br /></span></div>
If you've been a reader of this blog for any length of time, you know that I'm like a squirrel on crack who runs from one shiny thing to another. I love trying new things. If creativity were a physical activity, I'd be one of those extreme sport types. Trying bigger and better things, taking risks, jumping from the side of buildings. Since I'm scared of breaking an arm or a leg, I'll stick to low impact rushes. Thankyouverymuch.<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
This blog started out as an author blog. Then I honed in on writing creativity. Lately, it's been about creativity in general. Or perhaps it's been more about the exploration of ideas and finding what I love. I like that because it lets me share all my crack with the rest of you. Anyone who is thinking, 'I thought she was a wanna-be writer. What's with all this off-topic stuff?' I'm happy to report that it IS on topic. Although, it's my blog. I could make it about space monkeys if I wanted! (Space Monkeys! If only that were a real thing) </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Under the umbrella of creativity and exploration, I'm going to share with you all the newest venture. Jewelry! </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
As I'm writing this, I'm thinking who knew I could craft things. Anyone who knows me is laughing like a loon and pointing at me as they mouth the word "crafter" like it's the most ridiculous thing ever. They've seen rooms I've tried to paint myself. Or the crooked shelf I made years ago. Or when I decided I wanted a beach theme in my bathroom that consisted of one shell-shaped soap dish and a wall hanging.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
A few years ago, I took an English Comp class. I barely passed. I hated book reports in school even if I loved the books. I hated writing, or so I thought. Writing doesn't always mean book reports and academic writing and being bad at one doesn't necessarily mean you're bad at another. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
The same thing with my new crafting projects. While I may never be able to craft a shelf because I can't hammer the pieces of wood together, I can be great at other things. I'm finding out so much about myself lately. It's been a blast. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I wouldn't consider myself a crafter still. You'll never see a holiday shelf in my house. (Well, because I can't make one! Damn shelves.) </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
As I was saying, jewelry! Wire wrapped jewelry to be specific. I talked my mother into starting this hobby with me. I didn't start with the intention of selling the items, but I was pleasantly surprised by how great they looked. A little modesty there! I knew they were a hit when the daughters made requests/took some of the rings.<br />
<br />
It suddenly occurred to me that this would be a fun way to make a little money. I can spend hours and hours making items. It's a fun way to clear my mind yet still be creative. Etsy is terrific and doesn't cost much to list items. Like most things I do, I jumped in with both feet!<br />
<br />
We started an Etsy shop called <a href="https://www.etsy.com/shop/PailofPrettyThings" target="_blank">Pail of Pretty Things.</a><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.etsy.com/listing/204300728/white-and-blue-cluster-ring-with-twists?ref=shop_home_active_11" target="_blank"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhBAboklYSAhuGJvKIGNv5iC3ECY9UbHjTwrqCvvLXzdDHE9ZY-DyMYQrezOyaho4VY0zoU0hwdKQeaRH2MhDwAmHuKetRP_oPgtrebPx39kgFqGBinnA4D0NLuma2ABPYbvlkff9Gwgw/s1600/twisted+cluster+ring+(2).jpg" height="150" width="200" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.etsy.com/listing/206552165/wire-wrapped-wing-pendant?ref=listing-shop-header-2" target="_blank"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh9wHqvofTVtlEi4-fe1aPlkejTK4iJUAz6eVFTr_VAgYZeL8j0P_P5xrXtARNx6pjc_X0n1u5aMfX4xxOiUVPuRq-xoPpXAAgKRUACJLVd9n-r2HDJQ83-PZGZckXEc5koxwryjrU7yg/s1600/wing+pendant+with+banner.jpg" height="150" width="200" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.etsy.com/listing/204314951/beaded-memory-wire-bracelet-with-bird?ref=related-5" target="_blank"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg1q6p33jUqjqRGRQGvKxRyLQyjK3Qy2YeH5GgYfkOCuBVcrXNtQmMQVLYCZF9UsK_2GUDjuiL2xooLi2hzI6xTQSaZa5cdUjZUqaCinzbgZ0NRcSWmiZLhnbLelBpxaWjulgb1PlvmWQ/s1600/bird+bracelet+with+earrings+(2).jpg" height="150" width="200" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
I'm leaning towards steampunk-type items and funky pieces while my mother is doing more elegant, traditional items. It fits our styles, but gives people choices in our new shop. I'm having a fantastic time so far even if my fingers hurt from wrapping wire!<br />

I wish I hadn't started doing this recap. When I started, it sounded like fun. I've always wanted to write about my favorite shows. When I've been able to take work assignments about television, I'm giddy with excitement. It doesn't sound giddy-worthy but after hours and hours of insurance articles or SEO articles, it's a better pick-me-up than coffee. Okay, that might be a stretch. I mean, coffee? Probably not that exciting.<br />
<br />
But anyway, I wish I hadn't started. That was my point.<br />
<br />
At first, it was a blast, but I've lost interest in these people. Usually by now I have a favorite. Not this season. This season, I find them all equally bland.<br />
<br />
Amanda, Kini, Sean and Char.<br />
<br />
Those are the designers moving on to the finale. Meh. Maybe I'll be inspired by them next week.<br />
<br />
Here's a little video of part of the challenge. They tried to bring back Korina to be an assistant to the person who picked her garment for a redo.<br />
<br />
It was Char.<br />
<br />

When I saw the teaser for the show, I
thought it sounded fantastic. The designers would have to bid on
storage lockers for their materials for the next challenge. Sounds
exciting and challenging, right?</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
I should have known better. You got me
again, Project Runway!
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
The units were sitting in a warehouse
already chosen by producers. That means the materials were already
chosen, too. Not the exciting potluck of potential materials that I
expected.<br />
<a name='more'></a></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
The designers were split into pairs for
the challenge then given money to bid on the lockers. Amanda and Kini
picked a locker that looked like a Chuck E. Cheese exploded in it.
Emily and Korina were paired together and purchased a locker filled
with couches. Char and Sean... I don't even remember what their
locker looked like! I believe it had two dressers with the materials
in the drawers.
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
Instead of giving a play by play of the
design process, let's talk about the judging. On the runway, Korina
makes the comment, "At least my model can walk..." which is
a zinger towards Char and Sean who sent a model down the runway with
a lampshade around her ankles. It's true. The model couldn't walk,
but Korina is the type of person who tries to elevate herself on the
backs of other people. Instead of standing behind her design, she has
to point out the flaws in other peoples' clothes.
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
The judges can't seem to make up their
minds about who should go home. (How about both of them, judges?!
Seems about time for a double elimination!) They have them
participate in a sew-off. Both designers have an hour to make a
dress.
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
They've had these challenges before and
normally, I love them. It's completely amazing what can be created in
an hour by talented people. Even though it's down to the final 6
designers, I'm not all that impressed with any of them besides Kini
and Sean occasionally.
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
Each designer is allowed to ask for
help from their teammate from the challenge. Sean and Emily are
tasked with helping keep someone in the competition who might one day
beat them. Well, okay in reality, that's probably not true. Emily and
Sean are better designers than Char and Korina, but in essence,
that's what is happening.
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
Korina can't see past her anger. She is
offended that she has to fight for her life against Char since she
feels like without the saves, Char would have been gone already. Very
true, but suck it up! That's the reality. Korina could have taken
this as an opportunity to really show the judges her talent against
Char, but instead, she vomits bitterness all over her dress, and it
definitely shows. Emily comments about the resentfulness and negative energy, and how it makes Emily feel like she doesn't want to help.</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
Surprise, Korina loses.
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
While I don't agree with all the saves
that Char has received, Korina could have handled that better. If she
were truly a better designer, that should have been enough to give
her the win. Instead, she's packing her ego in her luggage and
leaving the show, but not before expressing her dislike of the amount
of saves Char has gotten. Then telling Char it "isn't all about
you, Char." I could see Char visibly shaking with disbelief.</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">

Sandhya was kicked because she made a onesie for a pre-teen girl. It was sufficiently horrid for the judges to be like "Ohhh. You aren't as innovative as we thought. You're out there and wacky." There's a fine line between out-of-the-box thinking and out-of-your-mind designing.<br />
<br />
I've been bored with the runway lately. There's nothing fantastic or original. Maybe I'm underwhelmed since Sean's fun little gimmick with the dye packs on the Rainway. How can you top the rainway?<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<br />
This week, the designers had to visit a local park to find an everyday, regular person and give them a makeover. It was a makeup challenge as well as a design challenge. The designers, of course, gravitated to thin people that were already pretty. I'd have loved to see a designer pick an ordinary, slightly homely person to elevate with a makeover. That would have been more dramatic.<br />
<br />
They took direction from their clients and started making their garments. Nothing noteworthy happened until Tim came in for the critique. He had advice and tweaks for most of the designers, but Alexander's look first made Tim speechless then he said it was hideous. HIDEOUS! I've never heard Tim be so blunt and harsh. He's been brutally honest before, but that was a first. He told Alexander to scrap the entire thing. It was gross.<br />
<br />
Alexander was completely flustered. I don't blame him but honestly, he's been floundering for weeks. It just happened that other people's clothes were worse than his. I haven't liked any of his garments at all.<br />
<br />
Hideous! Scrap it, Alexander!<br />
<br />
Clients come in for fittings. It's all kind of bland. The clients love it. Well, yeah. They were sitting in the park yesterday and now, they're on television getting an outfit they didn't expect. It's all kind of a whirlwind. I'd have loved whatever they made me, too.<br />
<br />
Fast forward to the only part of the whole episode that was at least interesting. They are all leaving for the runway when the zipper on Char's outfit breaks. I'm not even a designer, or a sewer, and even I know that zipper's break. But, she says let me go find Tim. The way she worded it to Tim made it sound like the model ripped the zipper out on purpose. Everyone knows that when Tim calls time, that's it. I've seen him pull things out of the hands of designers before. One model had to sew herself into a dress once in the bathroom so she wasn't half naked on the runway.<br />
<br />
Tim asks the other designers if Char can have 10 minutes to sew the zipper in. He does this in front of the other models, too. I was a little shocked. Would he have done this for anyone else? Char was his Tim Gunn Save. He's made a point to mention it previously. He doesn't want her to go home. I think it was a bad call, but the other designers mumbled, "Okay, fine." They didn't want to look like jerks. Later, they moaned about it, but they had their chance to say, 'No. It's an unfair advantage.' Too late now!<br />
<br />
Char and Alexander were on the bottom for their looks. He believes that if Char hadn't had that extra time to fix the zipper, she would have gone home.<br />
<br />
Maybe.<br />
<br />
It was time for him to go, though. I can't be mad about that.<br />
<br />
Korina won with her jacket. I could have sworn she was on the bottom for a jacket previously. And I am pretty sure I've seen that jacket someplace before but I can't place it.<br />
<br />
All the models looked prettier than they looked in the park, but nothing dramatic. They had eyeshadow and lipstick on with their boring outfits. Meh.<br />

A curved display. How can we turn this
into a challenge that totally has nothing to do with the display
itself? Let's make it about rain!</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
I actually love this challenge, but the
way PR tries to throw in product placement is a bit of a joke. I'd
love some honesty here. “We can't keep having runways unless
someone pays our bills. This challenge is sponsored by this curved
display.” I could totally get behind that.
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
Anyway, a Rainway! I've actually been
waiting for this since I saw it on the previews a while back. It's an
avante guard challenge, which is fun, too. The contestants can make
whatever they like. Create new shapes and designs.
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
Uh oh. Fade speaks. At first, I was
scared. This can't be good. Wait, but maybe it's because he finally
wins a challenge?</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
They have two days for this challenge.
That's the longest time they've had so far to make a garment. While
some of them aren't even taking the rain into account, others are
trying to figure out how to make their garments interact with the
rain. That seems like the best idea. Why ignore the fact that water
is going to pour from the sky? It's pretty awesome. If I could design
clothes, I would have made some kind of sculpture that allowed the
water to cascade down the model's body. Like little cups that
overturned and filled the one below!</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
Sean talks about this wacky yet genius
idea of adding dye packets so when the rain hits the dress it
transforms on the runway. I was so excited by this concept. He has
some really innovative ideas. I hope he can pull it off.
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
Kini wants to repel the rain so he's
making an upside-down umbrella dress.
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
Fade says he's uninspired, empty and stuck, but he'll
experiment his ass off. Oh no, Fade! I can't
panic. He has a dry sense of humor that I really like, and I'm
frightened for him. Or maybe he'll pull it out at the end. That
happens sometimes.
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
Sandhya is making a clown costume with
pinwheels all over it. I like her pinwheel idea since it was almost
the type of thing I was thinking about making. (you know, if I was a
talented designer!) but that clown costume. Meh.</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
Korina's idea sounds better than what
she's actually making. A thunderbird with wings that creates storms.
Sounds badass, right? Not so much. It was sad, little floppy silver
wings that looked like the outside of stickers when you remove the
good part.
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
Amanda basically says, “What says
rain to me? EYEBALLS!” Wha-?</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
I don't hate Amanda. I liked her for a
bit but she's working my nerves a little. I picture this giggling
maniac in her head saying “hm what can I get away with since the
judges just ooze love over everything I do?”</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
Tim does his critiques. Emily is doing
a hood on her garment. No surprise there. Emily loves a hood.
Alexander is making a clear, plastic poncho. He also breathes through
his mouth constantly, which irks me a lot. Char is making a big piece
that almost wants to be structural but doesn't quite make it. Sandhya
is confident with her clown jumpsuit, so Tim just waves her on. She
doesn't want to hear anyone else's opinion. While I can appreciate
when a person is confident, that smacks of arrogance to me. Korina
seems to give up on her garment about halfway through it. Fade still
seems lost. Sean gives Tim goosebumps. Kini also has a strong
concept.</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
I really liked the excitement of this
runway. It was definitely a show. Sean's was the most memorable to me
because it was such a special moment. The model started twirling and
the dye started to spread under the spray of the rain.
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
They didn't like Emily's outfit which
they called cliché. She did have some outdated concepts in there.
Nina yells “I'M SORRY!” It made me laugh for some reason. Nina
talks trash about the designs, gets a little angry and yells that
quite a bit. She's the only reason I mentioned Emily.
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
They didn't like Fade's look at all.
I'm sad to see him go. I don't think he really got the recognition
that his outfits deserved. Plus he wasn't over the top or dramatic
enough for television.
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
They loved Sean and Kini so both won.
Neither of them seemed angry about a co-win. I liked both outfits for
different reasons. It might have been hard for me to choose a winner,
too.
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.youtube.com/embed/nBOkle0TumM?feature=player_embedded' frameborder='0'></iframe></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
I'm sharing a video of the highlights this time because I wanted you all to see the transformation of that dye dress from Sean.</div>

Saved by the Gunn</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
I don't know what the name of the episode is really. That's what I'm calling it. </div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
Based on the previews of this week's
episode, I wasn't surprised to see Tim use his save on Char. That
should have been used later in the competition. I liked the idea of
the Tim Gunn save because sometimes a designer will take a huge
misstep and need to be saved -mostly from themselves. It shouldn't be used
for designers that tug at Tim's heart strings, or that he's grown
fond of over the weeks. It should be used on a talented designer that
falls on his or her face at the last minute. I don't think Char will
make it to the end unless she ups her game a bit.<br />
<a name='more'></a>
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
They're in the middle of sketching when
Tim announces his save. They all seem happy to see Char with only a few grumbles later about how the save is gone. Tim then brings them to an exhibit of Charles
James who made elaborate, intricate gowns with innovative designs.
Very ball gown-y but some were quite different and risky for the era.
Not risque, but risky design-wise.</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
The whole time they're at the museum,
I'm waiting to see Fade's shirt. He always has something written on
them, and I wonder if he does that himself.
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
So, yeah. Char is back and everyone has
to make gowns to go with these uber expensive jewels. It's not even
jewelry but jewels. Big rocks and excessive opulence. They're
beautiful pieces for sure though. Like museum pieces. They all make
their choices and head to Mood.<br />
<br />
You know the drill by now.
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
They run around Mood looking for the
perfect fabric and walk out with whatever they could get in 3.2
minutes. Two designers are in line with their identical blue fabrics.
There are literally one hundred thousand rolls of fabric. So much
fabric that it overflows the bins and stacks to the ceiling in some
spots, and these two have the same one.
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
Korina decides that she hasn't been
true to herself and will now make an upholstered couch coat. Samantha and
Sean are the designers with the identical fabric. If I was in
Samantha's shoes, I'd have grabbed another fabric real quick and
jumped into the end of that Mood line. Sean has immunity, and she's
never made a gown before. That's a scary combo.
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
Char is reflecting on her similarity to
Amanda. They both got second chances. After her supposed gossipy/sour
grapes comments about Amanda taking wins from other people, I bet she
does feel a bit differently now!</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
Crinkled taffeta in silver for
Alexander. I want to like it since it's a cool looking fabric, but I
have a feeling he'll make the same silhouette that he always does. Some
of the designers aren't getting much screen time like Emily and Fade.
They're just middle of the pack right now, and I wish they'd push
through. I'm curious about a lot of what they make but they almost never get a critique.
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
Amanda is making a see-through
overcoat? I'm not sure what the design is supposed to be. In his
interview, Kini says she has balls and just makes whatever she feels
like. She was quite timid in her first season, so I can see how she'd
be like 'pfft what do I have to lose? Already been kicked off once, it
can't get any worse than that.'</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
Tim is worried about Char's garment. He
doesn't want to see her get kicked off again. It'll be a waste of his
save.</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
Skim over Emily and Fade. They are not
dramatic enough to get any air time, I guess.</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
Kini is making...well, I don't know
what Kini is making. Usually by the time Tim comes for the critique
Kini is ready for a nap because he's been done with his garment for
hours. Not this time. His corset boob area is extremely pointed. It's
odd and kind of Madonna-esque. I hope he fixes that. I'm so very
surprised that it's so badly constructed. Maybe Kini didn't get a nap
before designing.</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
Korina says “I'm doing it the best
that I can...” So is everyone else. Tim's just there to give people
a critical eye. Some designers can't take a critique or constructive
criticism without feeling personally attacked.
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
Sean is making a pretty dress. I'm not
really wow'd by the dress all that much. It's okay. He tries to make
it more intriguing by putting a shoulder pad in where the hips would
be, giving the girl exaggerated hips. Yes, a dream for every woman.
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
Samantha is stuck on making a dress
that looks like a dress. She's never made one so I think she's happy
that the top of the dress is gown-like. She's hoping to skate with
hers. Tim tells her she better make it wow.</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
Alexander doesn't receive a great
critique from Tim. He has fantastically interesting fabric, and he's
torturing the hell out of it.
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
On the runway, most of the garments look the same as
they did on the dress forms in the workroom. Usually, there's some
transformation, but not this week. Maybe because it's gowns. I don't
know.

I love the fall. It's starting to get cooler, and as soon as I publish this recap, I'm out of here!<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Second, the episode was called Rock the Runway, but I watch PR Australia, too, and they say frock instead of dress. It's fun to say. Go ahead. Try it. Awesome, right?</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Third, on with the recap...<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br /></div>
<div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
Vague drama at the beginning of Project
Runway. They open with this weird, awkward silence in the apartment
between Amanda, Korina and Char. It's clear something happened but we
didn't get to see what it was. That irked me a little. You mean the
19 cameras the designers have on them all day didn't pick up the
conversation that lead to the tense staring?</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
I like Amanda less this season than her
original season, but Korina is doing that vague, passive aggressive
bitchiness thing. It's clear in her facial expressions more than her
actions that she's surprised when other people win. I haven't seen
her make anything spectacular yet. Of course, Amanda's garments haven't
deserved the wins either.
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
In Amanda's interview, she reports to
the audience that Korina called her phoney. I don't think Korina is
completely wrong about that. But anyway, that's how they started the
show. It was bizarre, and I wondered if I missed the first 10 minutes
of the show!</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
Finally, the real runway show starts.
They arrive at Webster Music Hall. Everyone guesses what the challenge will be, but since they
have bride and groom cups, it's not going to take Nancy Drew to solve
this one. (Yeah, I went old school on you with Nancy!)</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
Tim walks in with Dita Von Teese on his
arm. Screams and exclamations greet their arrival. Full disclosure
here...I had to Google her. Okay, so Dita wore a big purple gown for
her wedding, and she's kicking off the non-traditional wedding
challenge. I love the sound of this. Throw out the traditions. I'm
all about that.</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
Dita Von Teese called the wedding dress a bride's
costume. That phrase is great. And so is her name!</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
Tim lays out all the details; create a
believable, non-traditional wedding dress as well as a second dress for a
reception; there are no limits; don't make it look like a costume.
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
Tim then drops a bomb; TEAMS! BOOM!</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
Another bomb: random assignments (BOOM) and
yet, Amanda and Korina working together. That button bag is strangely
psychic, isn't it, producers? BOOM!</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
The boom side effects are my own
addition. It was way less dramatic than that. Almost a yawn moment for all the build up.</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
Most of the other designers are happy
with their pairings except the last two; Amanda and Korina. Korina says
in her interview that she's not sure how she feels about Amanda since
she doesn't trust her. They worked together well a few challenges
ago. It makes me wonder what happened, but only for a half second. I
can't drum up the will to care about this non-fight. It's just weird.
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
They stay at the theater to sketch.
Some of the groups are working together and bouncing ideas off each
other. There's nothing more exciting than watching creative people in
that kind of whirlwind space where ideas are flowing.
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
Korina wants to make a tuxedo. I wanted
to like her at the beginning of the competition. I really did. She had cool tattoos
and her designs seemed funky and interesting, but she's been
designing the blandest outfits. Even her bitchiness is bland. She sees her design as non-traditional -
which it is - but she's doing nothing original with it. Amanda is
being really timid about pointing that out to her. I'm feeling a
little bit for Amanda. She doesn't want to clash with her partner and
go home on a team challenge. That's usually how it goes.</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
The only fabric that seems crazy is the
bright yellow from Char and Sandhya. Char's dress color is already
unfortunate. Yellow leather and bright yellow lace. Char is
frustrated. She let Sandhya take the lead on the color instead of
insisting on one that wouldn't sear everyone's retinas. I get the
feeling that the other designers don't understand Sandhya and can't
see why she wins, but since the judges love her, they feel like
they're missing something and should run with Sandhya's craziness.
The judges were stunned by original design but that's going to wear
off very soon. My advice is stay away from Sandhya's kind of crazy.</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
I'm slowly learning their names. Mostly when
they make an impact on me. I'm not sure why but blue-haired girl's
name won't stick with me. Her dress looks like it'll be one to watch.
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
After we see some of the designs coming
together, we have to have a quick bit of melodrama. They are dragging out this non-fight. Char and Korina
had decided that Amanda needs to be told to her face that they find
her fake. I'm not sure she is, but okay, even if she was over-the-top
or fake, why is it up to you to tell her what you're thinking? If I
find someone unattractive, I'm not going to walk up and say, "Wow, that's some nose you have there." I
might mutter "oh boy" or think it in my head. What was the
point exactly? It feels very Mean Girl to me.</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
Amanda runs into Fade in the kitchen.
He's such a nice man, and jokingly says he'll let his model go down
the runway naked so he can listen to her problems. Whenever she needs
him. He's there for her!</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
Sam and Alex
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
They're doing a burgundy lace with silver appliques. In their half-finished form, they look pretty good to me.
We'll see!</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
Sandhya and Char
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
Oh boy. The yellow leather of Char's
dress is puckered. It looks like she hacked up the leather into a
dozen pieces then sewed them together like a jigsaw puzzle. Sandhyas
isn't done yet, so I don't know about that one.</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
Emily and Fade</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
That's blue-haired girl's name: Emily.
I'm not sure about her sketch, but I like what she has on her dress
form so far. It's lace at the top and off one shoulder with a high
waist and a long skirt with cutout squares. Fade will be making his
own textiles with cut out pieces and lace that he'll paint.
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
Korina and Amanda</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
Korina explains that it's a meld of
their styles (which it clearly is not) and she's making a tuxedo. Tim
has the same concerns as Amanda did - it's plain. Tim thinks
Amanda's treatment so far is beautiful. Korina gets this wide eyed
look when she can't believe what she's hearing. Then Tim says
"Korina, your look needs more innovation. Where Amanda's look is
all about innovation." Ouch. Then Amanda beams this smug smile.
Meh. I gave her a point but then had to take it away for smugness.</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
Kini and Sean</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
Sean has immunity but Kini is a strong
designer. I don't think he really flinched about that. They are
creating a pair of pants and a dress for a lesbian at her wedding.
Kini is basically done with his garment when Tim shows up. Sean is
working on his pants and the shirt isn't even a glimmer yet.</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
Korina complains that this is what she
does. She's not going to make something...weird. And Amanda replies,
"Right, well. I'm not going to make something not weird."
Korina is very rigid about her boring outfit, and I'm pretty sure
Amanda hopes she'll hang herself with that boring jacket.</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
Model fittings do not help me see the
garments any better. Alex comments that he needs to make sure all his
model's bits are covered since last runway he had some "sneaky,
peeky cheekies going on". Yeah. The model's butt cheeks were
playing peek-a-boo. I'm going to save that to use at some point in my
daily life! (Sneaky, peeky cheekies. I'll find a way to slip that in to some random conversation.)</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
The garments are slowly showing their real
selves both good and bad. Char and Sandhya are still yellow-ugly, but
the rest are coming together.
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<i>Blah blah, product placement ads from
Tim which really equals "Get your models ready, people!"</i></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
Amanda offers to drape the pants.
Korina says "Since her dress is so easy. she decides to do the
pants." Almost like Amanda should be offering. That's your bad
outfit, Korina. It's almost as bad as your attitude. I'd have stuck
with my easy-to-make dress and let Korina flop around like a flounder at the last minute. Okay maybe not because I wouldn't want to
go home because Korina couldn't make her bland jacket in the time
allotted.</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
Kini the wonder tailor is frustrated
that it's taking Sean two days to make a pair of pants, so he offers
to do the shirt. He whips those up in like 55 seconds.
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
Alex says that the top of Sandhya's
dress looks like a corn cob after you've eaten the corn. He's totally
right. It does!
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
Korina complains that the pants are
bad. Too tight and ill fitting. She should maybe have sewn them
herself. Sandhya says in interview that Korina came in overconfident
and superior. Treating everyone badly. I can see that about Korina.
I'm not sure where her confidence comes from exactly.</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
I thought the recaps would get shorter
as the designers were eliminated but they are getting longer!</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
Here are the memorable looks from the

Episode Five: Project Runway</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<b>The Klum of Doom</b></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
In my various, random clicking around
the interwebs, I stumbled across Heidi Klum in a blue, swirly dress. Well, at
first it didn't look like her, so I clicked it and accidentally
subjected myself to a spoiler! I was truly annoyed.<br />
<a name='more'></a>
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
They announced the winner of this
week's challenge long before the episode aired. Not amused. So that
colored my perceptions the entire time. If you haven't seen the
epsiode, I'll not spoil the surprise until the end. Oh,
wait. This contains spoilers all the way through! You shouldn't be
here if you haven't seen the latest episode. Shoo!</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
Heidi climbs from a limo. Cameras
flashing, people trying to get her attention. She's pretending to be glamorous and
above it all, but she's wearing a trenchcoat. Hey, for all I know,
that's her outfit for the week. It's not. She announces to the
designers that it's a red carpet challenge.
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
Cue all the moans and exclamations
about how red carpet and gowns are not what they design. “I'm so
out of my comfort zone, and it's scary” Basically, 90% of the
contestants say that when they get thrown a curve.
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
I'm not uber prepared for anything, but
if I'm in a design contest like Project Runway, I know that
eventually I'm going to be asked to make a gown, men's wear and a
dress out of corn husks. It shouldn't be a mystery. I'd have
practiced. Done some research. Something! Prepare for the show,
Designers!</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
They have to make her an outfit for the
creative design emmys. I don't think that's the regular Emmys. It
sounds interesting, though. That's on my list of things to check out
and research. You know, for my random information drawer!</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
“Heidi loves to show the skin” Why,
yes. Yes she does. Anyone about to shove her into yards of fabric is
going to find a Heidi-shaped hole stomped in their butts.
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
Tim calls out Mitchell and tells him
“Get it, Mitchell. Elegant and sophisticated.” Mitchell smiles
cutely, (or so he thinks) but that was a zing from Tim! A zing,
Mitchell!</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
That could be my interpretation alone.
I find Mitchell's outfits a bit tacky. He strives to be cute, fun and
slightly edgy, but he falls short in each outfit that I've seen him
make so far.
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
All the designers are scared and
anxious to be the designer chosen by Heidi. It is great exposure for
the winner. It will bring out the best and the worst in them. They'll
soar or sink dramatically on this one. I'm curious to see which!</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
I'm also curious how Heidi – who has
loved Sandhya's outfits – will feel about what she makes this
challenge. I bet she won't love them as much, or want to take a risk
for a red carpet event.
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
The editing can be so amusing at times.
I know it's used to create drama. Sour faces inserted at the wrong
time when it never happened that way in real life. Korina says “I
think the snakeskin I got will make the dress high fashion” cut
away to Fade's shirt that has “Huh?” written across it.
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
Twenty minutes after they return, Kini
is almost finished with his dress. The designers are too amazed to
hate him for it, yet, but give it time.</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
Heidi is about to step into the room.
I'm giddy with anticipation. She's like a tiny, little sadist
complete with the evil laugh.
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
Shot of the fridge with comments about
how cool it is? Random.</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
Yay, Heidi's here to throw the fear
around plus the evil laughs!</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
She likes the first few outfits, and
only has a few tips for them. “Don't bore me” “Show my boobs
off” and “You know I like to show skin.”</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
Mitchell's dress looks like horns, and
it covers her cleavage. Big no for Heidi on that last part alone.</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
Heidi gets to Sandhya's and says it
looks like Dynasty, very 1980s and grand dame. Sandhya looks confused
and asks if that's a bad thing.
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
It's like they saved the worst for the
last few so Heidi could save her energy and stomp all the designers
one after the other in a row and not have to waste time on her hating
spree.
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
I finally remember the slightly bitchy
ones name because Heidi destroys her. Korina says I think this is
definitely you. Heidi is annoyed and insulted that Korina thinks
Heidi is a sad, hunter green dress with snakeskin that reminds her of
a german hunter's jacket.
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
Heidi's parting shot “Make it work,
and don't start crying about it.” which makes Korina cry. Heidi
tries to soften the blow a little but she really was like 'hm. don't
cry about this, big crybaby.'</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
Tim and Heidi return!</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
Designers tremble in fear.
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
Shell-shocked faces stare at them blankly.
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
Happy day for the struggling designers.
They get more money and another trip to Mood. Those that don't need
to go back can give their money to another designer. Sandhya is no
fool. She's wandering around as soon as Tim leaves. Three or four
other designers give her their money. Mitchell is mad and calls her
selfish in his interview, but everyone had that opportunity. He's got
sour grapes because he didn't think of it first! Imagine that. She
used all that money for herself, in a competition! Crazy talk.</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
They get back with their extra fabric
and try to salvage their designs. You can see how thoroughly confused
some of them are.
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
Mitchell is a straight mess. I don't
want to be too unkind, but I think he's just completely out of his
element. It's not a cute party dress so he doesn't know what to do.
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
I was growing to like one of the other
designers, Kristine. She's shown some common sense and hasn't been
dramatic, which now that I'm writing this, I realize is the kiss of auf'ing for her.
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
Cue the frenzied sewing and running
around.
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
These are the notable looks that made it out
the other side.
</div>

The double elimination wasn't much of a surprise. Both
outfits were bad. Korina should have been in that pack. A triple
elimination perhaps, but the two losing designers had been in the
bottom last week, too.

In a real design world where they
weren't making 'show off my boobs', fun, sassy gowns for Heidi, Kini
would have won. But this is Heidi. That dress didn't show nearly

</tbody></table>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
A little about how I'll be doing these
recaps. I'm going to talk about the important and/or crazy quirky
moments from each episode. These will be my initial thoughts on the
episode too, as well as my personal opinions. It's not always going
to be sweetness and light, people! Some of these designers make some
ugly items, or they are excessively weepy about absolutely
everything. The main weepy person is gone already though, so we may
not have any tears at all the rest of the season.
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br />
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
Another warning: I don't know a ton
about fashion. I'm coming at this as a lover of creativity. The
creative process these people go through is fascinating to me. I like
to see how their personalities impact their clothing too.
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br />
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
When I watch Project Runway, I don't
always know their names until they hit the top 7 or 8 unless they are
extra dramatic, or the clothes blow me away. I think that's enough
warning and explanation.
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br />
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
On to the episode...!</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br />
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
A Suitable Twist</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br />
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
The person who wins this season gets a
ton of prizes. I swear Heidi spends the first twenty minutes of each
episode listing all the prizes including the chance to design a part
of the Red Robin uniform. It's a strangely bizarre prize. The others
make sense; money, makeup for runway shows, accessories for their
shows. Things that will benefit their careers. I'm not sure how Red
Robin fits except they must have ponied up some of that cash prize.
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br />
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
That's where they end up going this
week; Red Robin. The shameless Red Robin plug has nothing to do with
the challenge except they get to eat in the restaurant while
designing. "We have burgers with a twist. Now here's your
challenge. Fresh take on a hamburger! You're about to become a chef
instead! Welcome to Hell's Kitchen!" Okay, he didn't say that
but it was close. Men in suits come out holding trays of burgers.
Hideous suits by the way. Every ugly suit your dad ever wore in the
60s and 70s. Pink prom tux, purple velour suit, tan corduroy, blue
leisure suit.
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br />
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
As a viewer, it made me laugh a little.
These were terrible, and I couldn't blame the designers for their
initial nausea. Sandhya as the winner of the last challenge gets to
pick her suit first, but as an extra stab in the back to the others,
she gets to choose theirs, too. Surprise Hernan. Shouldn't have been
so mean to Sandhya two weeks ago!</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br />
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
She claims to have given everyone suits
that she thought they could work with, that fit their aesthetic. I'm
not sure. I can't get a read on Sandhya. Two weeks before, she went
weeping to Tim about how the other designers were mean and were
picking on her, but I like her out-of-the-norm design choices. They
aren't always things I love or would want to wear, but they are
original.
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br />
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
It's interesting to watch the designers
and their reactions to the suit choices. In my opinion, the ones with
the most talent took the challenge, absorbed it and moved on. They
focused on how to work with the fabric they were given. The least
talented whined and fussed about how they couldn't create with the
ugly fabrics. They did get to go to Mood and choose other fabrics,
too, so they had some choices.
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br />
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
Unless Red Robin is responsible for
every horrible prom suit in the last 50 years, I'm not sure what the
point was. But they go inside, eat fries and design. They did have
cool-looking drinks and glasses!</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br />
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
Mitchell and Hernan did the most
complaining about how Sandhya hates them. Hernan made the worst
decisions or didn't understand the challenge. He tried to match the
brown and beige suit with more brown and beige so he chooses a brown
vinyl at Mood. At this point, I'm thinking "wow, you didn't find
it challenging enough even though you've whined for 30 minutes about
it so far?" Brown vinyl. That's all I have to say about that.
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br />
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
Moving on.
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br />
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
Everyone else is thinking about their
design, solving the problem of the ugly suit with fuzzy design
decisions and a slightly vague directions, but they've mostly moved
on from the initial shock. Except Mitchell and Hernan.
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br />
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
Two of the designers are making a
motorcycle jacket. Neither one of the designers would give up their
design, but one of them was slightly bitchy about it, but not bitchy
enough for me to remember her name. She's been vaguely bitchy before,
too. I wish she'd own it. Around Project Runway, that could keep her
in the competition long after she's messed things up.</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br />
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
More Hernan whining. They had a bit of
a confrontation in the sewing room. She basically said I gave you
what I thought you could handle, but maybe you should have realized
I'm not easy prey. Ha! He was a bit of a bully on the challenge they
had together.</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br />
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
Tim's critiques are entertaining. One
of my favorite parts of each week's challenge. I can't always see
what they envision. I see sketches and flaps of fabric on dummies.
They almost always look horrible. Amanda's description sounds like a
flapper dress. Kini's dress is almost done. It looks fantastic. The
two designers and their motorcycle jackets. An off the shoulder piece
from some designer that was on the bottom last week. They destroyed
him. Nina called his dress a planet of the apes dress. Ouch. The
designer with the corduroy suit took strips of it and strips of other
things and sewed them together. I thought it had the potential to be
amazing. Mitchell put clear plastic over his dress.
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br />
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
Tim snuck up on Hernan who was trying
to mold his vinyl. Tim's face was thoroughly confused. He didn't
understand why Hernan was using the vinyl like fabric when it's not.
It's crumply and messy. At this point, Tim can inspire a designer who
is heading in the wrong direction. They scrap old garments and start
fresh, or take the current one in a different direction. Hernan has
the chance to fix things. I would if Tim ever gave me that face.
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br />
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
They skimmed over the blue haired woman
and the young girl with the lip piercing as well as Fade and another
(which usually means they are safe) before stopping at Sandhya who
said I was blown away by the moustache on the wall of Red Robin. Tim
just seemed confused, but he's been confused by her before, and she's
won challenges. All the interview segments show designers confused by
Sandhya.
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br />
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
Model fittings are model fittings. They
only showed bits and pieces so it was tough to see what was happening
with the finishes!
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br />
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
With so much focus on Hernan, it wasn't
looking good for him unless he pulled something out of his nether
regions at the last minute. Tim announced things the designers knew
already like send your models to the makeup room, and use the
accessory wall thoughtfully.
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br />
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
Boring, boring then runway time!</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br />
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
I'm not going to give a rundown on each
look until it hits the top six designers or so. There are just too
many of them right now. At the beginning of the season, I was happy
about the new accessory wall. The one last season was super ugly,
especially the shoes. I was so happy to see the wall this year except
everyone seemed to pick short boots with their dresses this week.
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br />
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
During the runway, Hernan laughingly
called Sandhya a bitch. She gave him the finger and told him not to
ever talk to her like that again. It made me question her tears of
two weeks ago to Tim. Clearly, she can stick up for herself, which
makes her move seem calculated. Or perhaps I'm being too harsh, and
she has just realized that she needs to be strong to win!</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br />
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
The judges didn't love one of the
motorcycle jackets, the shredded dress and Hernan's super V girl
costume. He had a V directly over the model's crotch.
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br />
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
They loved Amanda's hippy girl outfit,
Kini's dress, and the guy who was on the bottom last week. Amanda
won.</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">

Well, it might be? Wait. That's twerk. I won't be twerking. You can all rest easy about that. I've missed chatting with you guys. I've been spreading my wings and spreading my quirk all over the place, but I'm not as free in those other spaces to really be myself. Since this place has my name on it, I'll be coming back here to bring the quirk. Nobody can stop me here!<br />
<br />
For the past two or three weeks, I've been posting recaps on another site. Unfortunately, they have very strict rules about sharing photos. I believe that the pictures are included under the fair use copyright since I'm using them to critique, but they are erring on the side of caution. I completely understand, but that means I had to take down my recaps! I was slightly irked by that since it took nearly an entire day to write those suckers.<br />
<br />
I'd like to continue writing them, and it took me days to come up with the brilliant solution of using my own blog!<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<br />
Since it does take me a day to write the recaps, and I write long, rambling posts, this is a better setting for those anyway. Sometimes experiments don't pan out, and that's okay. I'll be writing more for that site in the future because there are no hard feelings, but the recaps will be here!<br />
<br />

This blog is mostly about writing, inspiration and creativity, and I do believe in staying in my niche. (We all know I struggled with that in the beginning.) These recaps are on Project Runway, and the reality show is all about creativity. Some may argue that PR has veered from the actual designing into the realm of dramatic reality television, but I love it for the glimpses of creative, frenetic energy. That qualifies in this niche I've carved for myself. Because... well, because I said it's so!<br />
<br />
I'm behind on the recaps right now. I had one written that didn't make it on the site, but this week, I had other things to do and honestly, I was disappointed about my recaps so I was a little down. I didn't feel like writing a recap that wouldn't have a home.<br />
<br />
That means I don't have one for this week, or I'd share it right now. I have one for last week, but I'd rather start fresh. I'll do some little teasers during the week perhaps. If you're a PR fan, I hope you'll love the recaps, and we can have some conversations about the show. And if you're not a fan, I'm going to convert you!<br />

I'm not disappearing! If you want to find me, I'm still all over the place doing that squirrel on crack thing. I want to provide one location for the prompts, which is the <a href="http://www.creativewritingpromptsforwriters.com/" target="_blank">new writing prompt site</a>. It doesn't make sense to divide the prompts in 18,000 locations when I can keep them in one. Hopefully, people will find that helpful and less scattered. Keep using the prompts. Keep writing! Or write without the prompts. Whatever works to keep you writing is what matters.<br />
<br />
I've been working on the professional side of my writing. Since I started watching Project Runway and reading hysterical recaps, I wanted to do one myself. You'll find my <a href="http://dailytwocents.com/project-runway-recap-episode-one/" target="_blank">first recap</a> over at Daily Two Cents. If you're not watching Project Runway, you should start! Like now. Right now. Go watch it on demand or something. I'll wait.<br />
<br />
That isn't super professional, granted, but the rest of the work is. I'm still slowly working on more fiction with the erotica pen name as well as that mystery story. I have to admire those writers even more now. That mystery crap is hard to write.<br />
<br />
Links to my profile pages and the body of my work online, in case you're interested. I'll be back, and I'll keep you updated. I check my Facebook at least once a day if you want to connect with me there. I'd love that!<br />

It's pouring outside; big, fat raindrops that plop to the ground and splash as they rebound. The mother and daughter sit on the porch watching it rain for a few minutes until the daughter looks at the mother with round, pleading eyes.<br />

Jagged forks of lightning flash in the night sky illuminating a man as he skulks from one tree to another in the dimly-lit backyard.<br />

Windshield wipers work overtime to clear the glass as the driver heads up the winding turn. Something darts across his path, he swerves and almost crashes. With a rapidly beating heart, he stops his car on the side of the road.<br />

This week's theme is the heart. Heart-warming or heart-wrenching. You can go whichever direction you choose, as always. I'm not going to use the linky post widget. If you have a story you'd like to share, feel free to add it to the comments. I'll link it inside next week's prompt post.<br />

<span style="color: #351c75;"><b>Work Strangeness</b></span><br />
<br />
A young intern working in her first advertising company notices that the executives meet for a pre-lunch meeting once a week. During that time, the entire office seems to function at a lower volume as if awaiting an epic event.<br />
*<i>*What are the executives doing?**</i><br />
<br />
The warehouse operates 24 hours a day sending packages around the world for various companies. It's an open warehouse with many clients. One corner of the warehouse is colder than the rest. Workers complain of headaches when they work near there, but they are unaware of the cause.<br />
<i>**What's in the corner of the warehouse?**</i><br />
<br />
The convenience store clerk is slumped behind the counter. He seems to be unconscious. On the counter, there's a heavy mallet like those used in construction, otherwise, the store is undisturbed.<br />
<i>**What happened to the clerk? Where did the mallet come from? What did the cameras catch?**</i><br />

It's June. Half of the year is gone. It's hard to believe! I'm still at work on the prompts for the other site, too. If you want more prompts to choose from, feel free to browse over there! <a href="http://creativewritingpromptsforwriters.com/">http://creativewritingpromptsforwriters.com/</a><br />
<br />
<span style="color: #351c75; font-size: large;">Strange Reality</span><br />
<br />
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
A man dressed in a three-piece suit is
seen dancing outside of an office building. He dances with an intense
expression on his face, not with the joy expected from someone taking
part in such a happy activity.
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
**<i>Why is the man dancing? What happens
when he's done with his dance?*</i>*</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
In an area of the city, there exists a
section devoted to the homeless. They sit on old couches, cardboard
boxes nearby for sleeping. One woman stands out because of almost
neatness of the dirt applied to her face and neck, as if it were
smeared purposely.
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
**<i>Who is she? Why would she be with the
homeless if she didn't belong?</i>**</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
A red Jeep follows behind as you drive
home from work. It drives close to your bumper, but not aggressively.
Vaguely, you remember a Jeep behind you on the highway this morning,
too. For the next two days, the same Jeep shows up at different
places as you run errands.</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">

I know! I'm late with the prompts. I'm sorry. I completely forgot my own Tuesday prompt thing.<br />

<span style="color: #351c75;"><b><span style="font-size: large;">Graduations</span></b></span><br />

<br />
Finally graduated from high school,
your daughter heads to her car for a round of parties at her friends'
houses. She promises no drinking, but you have a bad feeling
suddenly.</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
**<i>Do you stop her because of one bad
feeling? What happens?*</i>*</div>

<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
One of the milestones in a kid's life
is graduation from elementary school to middle school. The young boy
walks into class on his first day at the new school.
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
**<i>Is it vastly different from
elementary school? What's his first day like?*</i>*</div>

After years of part-time classes, the
single mother graduates from college. Her family is extremely proud
of her, and she's an inspiration to her children.</div>

tragic. What does the future hold for this woman?</i>**<br />

Okay, fine. The two of you might have vaguely wondered why I haven't been posting. I'll tell you! I've been doing that squirrel on crack thing.<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I'm not sure how it started. A video, an article, a podcast? Something I saw or read made me think that creating affiliate websites would be a cool next step in the online writing journey. I have three sites now. I'd like to tell you a bit about them, but first, here's the thought process behind them. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
For almost three years, I've been writing for other people. All my hard work has funded their websites, blogs and marketing efforts. That's about 3,000 articles. They ranged from 50-75 word product descriptions to 1,500 word articles about hardwood flooring. I once did a 6k word article on power tools. My point is... all that work was to the benefit of someone else's dream. Sure, I got paid. Don't get me wrong, but I wasn't building anything of my very own. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I've known this for years. This didn't just hit me one day out of the blue, but I wasn't sure what to do about it until that recent article. I thought, "Why not? Why am I still writing for other people? That was never the plan."</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
For a month or so, I brainstormed, read tons of blogs and sites about affiliate marketing, and researched keywords. I worried about coming across as one of those spammer types, but really, Google doesn't allow spammer types anymore. They want people to create content-rich sites that provide value to the reader. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I can do that! </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I started two sites. One was about hypnotism and the other was about fashion/sewing. I made sure to pick keywords that I'm interested in, that I could write a lot of content on, and that I could maybe make some money with in the future. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
The hypnotism one is in progress. I was going to link it here, but I might wait until it's finished. The fashion one couldn't be moved for 60 days. It's close to time for that one. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://creativewritingpromptsforwriters.com/" target="_blank"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjGFNHHJpoPceb57NBkIhTOM6FERQJUTk2pTgzgZTJ2GzkLs4i5QQZdaKAtx8eRZTO3e1u_6HqIMAriYtthS4VAGjXYQJExVcgbQd2OOTf5hM6iu-KCAtpf8qXKRpChbKVQwwlBKhqLAw/s1600/writing+prompts+for+writers.png" height="69" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div>
I recently started a third one. This is the one I want to share with you. It's for creative writing prompts. I think of it as a companion site for this blog. Eventually, I'll be writing a book of creative writing prompts and wanted a site that could funnel people to the book. The <a href="http://creativewritingpromptsforwriters.com/" target="_blank">Creative Writing Prompts for Writers</a> site was born. Sounds grander than it is. I'm proud of the site, but there's still more to be done. It needs more categorization and other tweaks. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Oh, and I've also been writing for a few online sites like Hubpages, Writedge, and Squidoo. Trying to build my personal, online writing portfolio. It's great to be able to write on tons of topics without having to stay within a genre like I do here. I love writing about writing and creative inspiration, but sometimes, I want to write about treasures, <a href="http://writedge.com/10-free-summer-activities-for-kids/" target="_blank">summer fun</a>, or hidden doorways.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
So, that's what I've been doing with myself the past few weeks. Once, the sites are up and running, I'll be blogging here more. I haven't disappeared! </div>
<div>
<br /></div>

It's Tuesday again. The time just flies, doesn't it? For the few people paying attention, I've been keeping up with the Tuesday prompts, but nothing more for the past week or two. I've got projects exploding out of my ears! Well, not literally because that would be messy, and I don't have a maid. I hate cleaning. I'll explain it all in a day or two when I've made the projects fit for other people. Right now, the projects are in their pajamas. Soon, they will be dressed in their party clothes, then I'll let you all see them. Wanted everyone to know I haven't disappeared like bloggers sometimes do!<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<br />
On with the prompts:<br />
<br />
<span style="color: #351c75; font-size: large;">Surprise</span><br />
<br />
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
A woman suspiciously wonders about the
times when her husband comes home late from work. Fed up and angry,
she waits in her car in his office's parking lot.
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
**<i>What does she see? Is it a surprise
or exactly what she expected?</i>**</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
The boy lingers in the department
store. His mother is close by but not paying attention. He's been
thinking about this item for a long time. He wonders how he'll get it
without his mother seeing.</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
**<i>What is the item, and why is it so
important for the boy?</i>**</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
You're driving past a neighbor's house
when you see an extremely large package on their porch. It's at least
six feet tall since it brushes against the porch's roof. You can see
the home from yours.
</div>
**<i>What's in the package? Do you ask the
neighbor, or peek until you see someone open it?</i>**<br />
