Lottery Dreams

Writing an article on pool construction this morning, it reminded me of an article I'd done months ago on Celine Dion's pool. Apparently, her home is on the market in case any of you are interested. You only need 72 million dollars. Pocket change.

The home is on an island, so not only is the ocean right there, but she built a water park for herself and her family. Five pools connected with a lazy river. Apparently, they weren't able to visit water parks because she's so famous. That I do understand. I can imagine people mobbed her when she was trying to enjoy time with her kids. But wow.

There are islands for sale off the coast of Florida like this one off Fanny Key. It says that the price is only available upon request, but in the past some of the islands off the coast have sold for between 3 and 9 million dollars.

Trivia: The small Key islands off the Florida coast are the one of the few islands in the United States that can be purchased.

This is the new lottery dream. No, I don't play the lottery unless it's over 300 million. I get sucked in by the excitement of a big jackpot, but otherwise, I can't see wasting the money constantly week after week.

After seeing these islands, I might have to reconsider the lottery cost every week!

What is your lottery dream?

  1. I'm the same way about the lottery. I can't see budgeting that much money to play it weekly, but the slim odds are more so playing only with big jackpots. Oh, and the crushing disappointment of not winning each time gets me. I comfort myself with extra chocolate. Though if I did win, I'd hire a financial planner and freak the heck out over not blowing it all. It could be loads of fun figuring out how to establish my own mini economic system. I would probably upgrade my 14 year old car first though. Maybe get a nice new Toyota.

    1. It's always amazing to me when people lose millions of dollars to bad planning, or however they lose it. A house, vacation, car and clothes. Hm. And a house and car for the entire family along with vacations for them, too. Okay. I can see how people fly through the money!

  2. What would I do if I won the lottery?Finish my house, pay off what little debt we have, invest, supply college funds for my children, go on several mission trips all over the world, fill the retirement account, give my husband the garage and muscle car to fix that he has been drooling over since he was twelve.
I'm planning on doing this anyways, but winning the lottery would make it much easier. :)

    1. Much easier and faster, too! That's sweet that you'd give him a car to tinker with in a nice garage of his own.

  3. My lottery dream is to be able to get my work at home mom business going well and have enough money to do what I want to do and not have to be at work. I want to work on what I want to do and have my husband to be able to work from home as well. We would be traveling for sure!

  4. If I won the lottery, I would first of all keep it a secret between hubby and I. We would hire someone to complete our greenhouse and basement. Right now we do everything ourselves, and there is only so much energy/time to get it done. We would buy land. We would donate to St. Jude's Hospital and help a few dear friends anonymously.

    1. I'm curious why you'd keep it a secret. Donating is a great idea. That would be on my list, too. Not sure where I'd donate. If I won the lottery, I could always pick three or four.

  5. Yes, I agree with keeping it a secret between the closest of family members. I would help anonymously. As for wish list fun.. ummm... I'd have more dogs, a kennel to breed and a trainer/ assistant. I'd build a home for mom's in need of shelter or single mom's needing training for a better future (theory of teach a man to fish, you feed him for life). College for grandkids and a home for my daughter. All else would be anonymous. So, if you see a 'compound' of homes going up in MA with half dogs you'll know I didn't stay anonymous for long!!

    1. Those are great lottery dreams. Mine sound all selfish now! I like that about the single mom training. I'd volunteer to help with that.

  6. I am so jealous! I try not to be a jealous person but how can you not after seeing that!?!?

  7. I know! Some of my jealousy left when I found out that she had to build that because people wouldn't leave her alone with her family at a water park. That's kind of sad. She's on the road working and must miss spending time with them.

  8. Can I come visit your island??? I don't play the lottery...always clueless to what is going on in that department. I know we would travel and pay for the girls college but really I don't have a lot of wants in this world. I could use a lazy river.... :)

    1. Of course you can visit! A lazy river with a waterfall and cool lighting would be so relaxing.

  9. My dad plays the lottery ALL THE TIME, much to my mother's dismay LOL My hubby plays once in a while, too. I played once. Lost. Gave up. LOL Our big dream is that if we ever come into any money (lotto or otherwise) we'll buy a huge piece of land in the country, build our dream home and build homes for our parents, too, so we can take care of them as they get older.
