Day Two of the Writing Prompt Challenge

It feels like I've been doing this challenge for weeks. Today's challenge is to write about anyone that has tried to hurt you or been an enemy. I was fully prepared to not love all the challenge prompts, but on day 2? I didn't think it would happen so soon.

I haven't had any real enemies. I'm not one to get too close to people too quickly. I don't let anyone in to dislike me enough to call an enemy. I think you have to let people into your life to consider close enough to hate them later. Thankfully that's never happened.

In the allotted 60 seconds, I couldn't remember if anyone has ever hated me enough to hurt me. Since I'm pretty sure that would stick out in my mind, I guess there's no one! Not everyone loves me, but that kind of dislike is pretty foreign.

All these challenges are kind of personal. I might change the tilt of the challenges and write a bit of fiction instead. Okay, lies. We can call them lies. Last week was the About Me theme. I don't want to do another week of posts about me. It's boring!

With that in mind, here's what I would have written instead.

Enemies? I suppose Margaret might hate me. She didn't like the tea I made her. The napkins weren't folded correctly. The proper amount of sugar cubes weren't stacked in their delicate bowl. Did she know that I added a little something extra into her favorite finger sandwiches for Sunday tea? If Margaret knew, I'd be led out of the mansion in cuffs. No. Margaret wasn't my enemy. I was hers.

Tomorrow, I'll write some fiction based on the prompt. I'll lie.

"Fiction writers are liars who can type." -A wise person. (I can't remember who said it.)

  2. What a ***** Margaret is! I think you should poison her--get her before she gets you...Yea, the fiction idea is good.

  3. She is! It's probably why *I* put a little something in her food. Thanks, Bonnie. I'm liking the fiction idea more and more. I'm looking forward to tomorrow.

  4. I am much like your first answer. Very guarded, you have to be a pretty special person to be let in to get to know everything about myself. I don't have any enemies, but I also don't have many close friends either.
I really like the fiction idea,it could make for some great stories. :)

    1. I don't have many close friends either, but I prefer a few close friends to dozens of so-so friends.

We'll see tomorrow if I can do it in 60 seconds!

  6. I am not sure if the first comment went through. Here is a close repeat.

This is my first time reading your post. I also think it was a great twist. If you write a novel I will be one of the first to buy a copy. Oh by the way, I am sure that your life is not boring at all!

    1. The first comment was lost in the ether, so thanks for doing it again.

It really is boring, but there's a rich fantasy life inside my head! I'm glad you enjoyed the challenge response.
