Behind the Scenes: Blogging Niche

**Blogging Niche**

This week's theme will take you behind the scenes of blogging. There's nothing truly earth shattering. I want to start a conversation about the whole blogging process. I'd like to talk to all of you about the whole mystery of it. Oh. It's not a mystery to you? Well, it's a mystery to me!

Since starting the blog back in September - although officially, I didn't really invest any time into it until October - I have really struggled with finding my voice and my niche. I'm a little jealous of the mommy blogs. They seem to have their niche fully laid out before them. Or the organization blogs where people find valuable information. The value in my blogging topic isn't readily apparent or measured in a tangible way.

I might possibly be amusing.
That's my niche. How tough is that? Humor is so subjective. Not everyone will find me humorous at all. I know! It's tough to imagine people wouldn't find me amusing, but it's true.

I write.
Every blogger writes! There's nothing unique there.

I'm sharing myself.
For people who want to climb into my head, good news; I've given you a ladder. Try marketing that when it comes time to look for money-making opportunities.

I provide stories.
Imagination and creativity. That's my niche, so to speak.

Many days, I feel unqualified to give writing advice. I can share my journey and talk about books in general. That appeals to me. In fact, tomorrow there will be an another author on my blog as part of a blog tour. I'm very excited about it!

Have you found your niche? Is it as vague and frustrating as mine?

  1. LOL I think you're quite amusing...and it's even funnier than you think you might possibly be so! I'm not sure what my niche is specifically, but I make sure I only blog about things I LOVE. THAT'S my niche, maybe?!

    1. Thanks for thinking I'm amusing!

Yours seems to be that whole organization thing, which is wildly popular, and food! It works!

  2. I don't yet have a niche. I am very appreciative for your blog because it is the inspiration that I found here that directly affected me in a way that I trashed a post I had written and wrote the way I felt inspired by you. That worked out incredibly well that time. I view your blog as my voice of courage- the courage to write. Thanks for that.

    1. That is such a huge compliment. I can't tell you how happy that makes me. I'm far from a huggy type person but I would totally hug you right now!

Your latest post was so brave, and so are you. Braver than me! I can't wait to read more of what you write... including stories! And books!

Your writing always manage to make me smile...LOL your statements are true and you really made me think about if I really knew what my nique was? **screams** the joys of blogging!

    1. Joys? You crazy woman, you! Kidding, just kidding. If we didn't find some joy in it somewhere, we'd stop doing it.

Maybe every blogger struggles with their niche. Trying to stay true to what they *think* it should be, and more importantly, what it shouldn't.

  4. Oh, you hit a sore spot.. a niche? If I spell it wrong I could make it another four letter word. How do I find my niche in the blogosphere when most days I still wonder what I want to be when I grow up. As a grandmother that's pretty scary.. I think finding a 'theme' will have to be good enough for me. and hoping a theme i'm working on will direct me to my niche.. Your writing is inspiring and pushes the mind to other places. As a reader I find absolute fun in reading your stories.. as a blogger I find inspiration, a want to push myself deeper into the imagination and just let go... have fun.. be crazy.. be someone different for a page or two. Keep writing.. I think you've found it! :)

    1. Thanks for that encouragement. I need it some days. Most days really.

If I can take a mishmash of things, call it a niche and have it be accepted (by you wonderful people!), certainly it's possible for everyone. You have a great imagination. Take it for a ride!

  6. I think you provide the courage and inspiration for struggling bloggers/writers. Or bloggers/writers who hit a writer's block, per se. I know I love coming here to read your wonderful work because of the beauty in the way you write.
I don't have a niche. I knew that going into this thing. I'm still getting my feet wet with this whole thing. It's been almost a year now, but you can say I'm a slow learner. :)

    1. My hope for the blog was to be mildly entertaining and see where that took me. To think I've helped people, that is very satisfying. There's been plenty of love for my blog in these comments lately, and they mean so much!

You have some great weekly themes and share some personal moments that help us get to know you better. I always enjoy your posts whether they're considered a *niche* or not.

  7. I always like your writing tips. Like letting our imagination out to play and giving ourselves one minute o write and see what comes out.:) Your blog is different then lots of others I read, but that is what makes it cool. :)

    1. I'm so glad you enjoy the blog! I'll have to make a note to share more writing tips, and perhaps some prompts and challenges. It's exciting for me when I can see others stretch their imaginations, and find joy in writing.
